@listlessness My only Worldcon so far was #Dublin2019, it was wonderful - I second volunteering as a way to meet people before you get there.

I’ve not sorted travel or accommodation yet but I have my membership and plan to go to Glasgow.

My advice is take the plunge! Even if you don’t meet people beforehand you’ll find like-minded people in the registration queue, or going to programme items, or in the bar/dealers hall/roaming the corridors.

I sort of ‘came out’ to a new group of people - not as Bi (yet) but I was wearing a #GlasgowWorldCon2024 tshirt to my swimming club. I tried to explain that while I dabble in many geekdoms my main interest is #Discworld and #TerryPratchett but I could see the confusion on many faces. My WorldCon attendances are due to friendships and geography - I went to #Dublin2019 and will go to Glasgow and no other temptations abound yet. But regardless, I’m now the go to gal on all qs comics and nerdy. 1/2

Had a crazy morning running con operations at one of the venues. Now relaxing before I go to a couple of program items, grab dinner, and then run ops again tonight. #Dublin2019

Stopped into the #Dublin2019 operations office to check in and immediately got pressed into service as a desk manager. I guess I won't be joining the pub crawl untill quite late, if at all.

I didn’t get around to nominating for the #Dublin2019 #AnIrishWorldCon #HugoAwards this year, but OMG the things I really wanted to nominate all made it to the short list. There are at least 3 categories where I’ll have a hard time picking a top 3, never mind picking a #1.

Spending large amounts of money makes me anxious, because I look at it and go, ‘that could do a lot of things’.
