Trimming the head block flush with the sides.
I tape a piece of wood to the tenon that will be under the peghead to prevent accidentally having an oops moment when the saw breaks through.
After the waste is sawn away, I clean things up with files and scrapers.

Preparing stock for pegheads. This piece of mahogany is tricky to plane flat, but an old Stanley no. 12 scraper came to the rescue.
