Tuesday’s #ImageOfTheDay.
#Dunstanburgh Castle #Northumberland in early spring. It was built in the 14th century on a site overlooking the North Sea. It formed a strategic stronghold during the Wars of the Roses, changing hands between the Lancastrian and Yorkist factions several times. But by the 16th century it was already derelict. It is owned by the National Trust and managed by English Heritage. It is easily reached on foot via the coastal path from either Embleton or Craster.
