Round birthday coming up. Am promised a “good guitar”, ostensibly.

I have a ‘78 American Tele Custom (mostly all original), maple neck, wide range humbucker in the neck. Is it wrong to want an American Vintage II 1951 butterscotch Tele? Or should I skip that and wait for a Gretch Duo Jet Vintage ‘59 that I’ve been eyeing up. Or a Les Paul Standard 50’s with P90s?
