It WAS fun. My #DuolingoStreak was almost 300 days. My husband's streak over 200. But the #DuolingoUpdate sucked the fun and joy right out of it. And they didn't even give us a choice whether we wanted the new path thingie or the old outlay.

And they sure af don't care about how the app recently started racking up 1star reviews and how there's a petition to undo the update (or offer is as an alternative).

@ct_bergstrom Sorry, but personally, I find that ever since the #DuolingoUpdate a few months ago, #Duolingo sucks balls, and I'm far from alone in that.

The new "path" design is far less customizable to personal preferences and learning experience, less intuitve and learners get shoe-horned into a one-size-fits-all approach that most decidedly does NOT fit all.

AND they are leaning WAY harder into monetizing their now-crappy app, making it far more frustrating to advance without paying.

I have a 1644 day streak on #Duolingo. 1644 days is 4.5 years. Do you remember what the world was like 4.5 years ago? I don’t. But I knew less Polish and Hindi.

Recently Duolingo released a major update to the structure of all courses. Many users hate it and complain about the #DuolingoUpdate. For me, Duolingo has basically become unusable. It is a mess. I do not enjoy using it any more. I am angry about the harebrained update.

But yeah, they got me hooked. I have grown attached to my streak.

Just deleted my #Duolingo app.

I tried using the new, #DuolingoUpdate version for about three weeks and then gave up.

It's so INCREDIBLY shitty, it makes me want to puke and / or smash something.

The new version is fucking messy to navigate, user autonomy where it comes to choosing lessons pretty much got nuked and fun features like stories are next to unusable.

Plus, it's set up so you only make good progress if you either senselessly grind OR cough up more cash.
