@eniatitova i feel like at some point #fedex decided to concentrate on business delivery and #ups more on home delivery but they can't completely ignore the other and your situation is a small enough inefficiency at their scale that they don't mind eating the cost ...particularly, since they practically operate in a #duopoly ...like how smaller competitors exist in the tech space but #Google or #Microsoft operate at such a scale, they literally lock out any competition in their niches ...to be optimistic, i'll be *very* surprised if there aren't several disruptive last-mile competitors that pop up in the near future that make home delivery their priority #recession ...then it'll all be #smooth ....get ready for #teens on #micromobility vehicles chasing you down based on your phone's location to give you a box you can wear like a backpack #thefuture

My political progression (a true story)

My first awareness of politics was a rally for Jimmy Carter in 1976 that my grandmother brought me to. I was too young to vote, but I liked Carter. He seemed genuine and down to earth.

When I was old enough to vote, I considered myself a #Utopian #Socialist, and had faith in humanity for a brief period.

After reality and cynicism kicked in, I voted #Green, #Socialist, #Independent -- anyone but the #Duopoly. I did that most of my life.

Then, #BernieSanders came onto the scene. A #DemocraticSocialist who shared my values and who had a chance to win -- before he was sabotaged by the DNC (and who could have won against Trump -- sorry, but it's true. In a debate, Bernie would have kicked T's ass. And Bernie did have populist appeal, just like the orange one).

Despite all that, I did vote for Biden in 2020 -- because I saw what #Fascism looked like under the orange one and his corrupt SCOTUS appointment. And yeah, I'll more than likely "hold my nose and vote for Joe" or Kamala -- because I hate fascists more than I hate inept and corrupt Dems. I won't tell others how to vote. But I thought I'd share how I've voted (and will vote).

Green Party folks seem to be fired up. Cornel West is the best candidate they've had in several election cycles, maybe ever. He is a spiritual man, a moral Christian, in a way that both major parties wandered away from long ago. Unlike the duopoly candidates, he is a genuine scholar and an intellectual. Most importantly, he is driven by the context of a struggle in the tradition of Martin Luther King, Jr. Cornel West wants to continue down the path laid forth by MLK Jr before he was assassinated, particularly issues revolving around economic justice.

The dangerous idea is that continuing to vote Democrat or Republican is going to change anything. I may be a little more comfortable with one than the other right now but it keeps getting worse regardless of who is in power. The #duopoly is the biggest American scam running.

I see the rise of the #gunfetish being fueled by compounding factors but primarily fear: The shrinking world. The failure of #globalization to fulfill the capitalist "all boats rise" Lexus and olive branch promise BS. Loss of white dominance demographically is huge and the decline of patriarchy. Guns make scared people feel better. The post cold war 9/11 brought us open culture war. The gun was the solution to the urban brown skinned predators seeking retribution and material things but now it's the whole scary world.
