“Researchers in Melbourne, Australia, studied 64 transmasculine individuals who sought testosterone. Participants were randomly split into a treatment group and a control group. The treatment group received their gender-affirming care within a week, while the control group waited three months. Both groups were evaluated for suicidality, dysphoria, and depression. Three months later, they were assessed again. The findings were striking: Suicidality scores halved for the treatment group, but remained unchanged for the control group. Depression scores also decreased by half in the treatment group. Additionally, gender dysphoria scores diminished for those receiving treatment.”

Two months ago I put my patreon money into a QR-Code sticker campaign for the #Gender #Dysphoria Bible because I felt guilty I was taking money from the #trans community when I'm financially secure.

I sometimes get an audition that I know I won't get cast for. I'll audition all the same, because I could do it well. Usually it’s for queer+femme coded or trans coded characters. So: I pitch my voice, place it in my mouth, characterise and act. But on playback the only part that sounds vaguely believable is when I'm being low and breathy - basically a drag queen voice. The rest sounds cartoony. And that is so, so depressing for so, so many reasons.

Hi, Mastodon! I am writing my thesis for my Master's in Social Work. Originally, I wanted to focus on butch women obtaining top surgery.

Now, I want to look at how the trans community navigates/negotiates/pressures the medical community into creating a more expansive view on gender and a less medicalized view of gender dysphoria. (ie, viewing dysphoria as a social problem, not psychological.)

Do you have sources? Do you know people who are involved?

Thinking more on the #dysphoria discussion, one of the things transfeminine people seem to forget is that, no, trans men and trans masculinity was not visible until very, very recently.

My experience of not knowing that it was possible to "be a dude" is a direct result of that invisibility. Meanwhile, trans women have been in the public awareness for decades. It was a last option for many, but still an option. A big part of the trans masc experience of dysphoria is/was that namelessness.
