E-book readers! What e-book device do you recommend?

I've been reading on an Android tablet for years, but I'm thinking about trying an e-ink reader.

90% of my reads I borrow from the library, so Overdrive/Libby integration is the most important. I also want the device to play nicely with DRM-free epub files.

I do not want an Amazon or a BN device because I don't want to be locked in or spied on :)

**I would appreciate all recommendations! *Thank you.***

When I search for the hashtag, most of the toots are some sort of advertisement for books. But the one has more content about e-books, digital media and the eReaders devices.

I think I'm sticking with the

@Tourma I like Readera (Google Play) and FB Reader, both on Android. I agree about F-Droid but I use it to get FB Reader, as the F-Droid version is ad-free but the GPlay one isn't. Readera seems like it has more functionality, even on the free version, than FB, but I've used the latter longer.

- Useful hack for -

When you have a literature database (e.g. bibtex) and have linked your PDF files with your library you can write the contents of the database as XMP metadata to your PDF files.

Why? eReaders use that metadata to sort, search and display your PDF files on your device.

With JabRef you can also bulk-write the metadata. Simply sort by linked file and run it for everything that comes up!

How do you read your ? For many years I was really into using .

During COVID, I found that I really missed the feel of physical books in my hands as well as the smell of the ink on paper and the cover art. I’m in the process of buying physical books once again and it’s making me really happy.

@thebradking I have a Kindle paper white but find myself wanting one of the new Boox Leaf 2 readers of the Kobo readers. My complaint on the Kindle is the lock-in. They really don’t want you installing your books, and having to pay more for no ads is annoying.

Libreture promotes DRM-free eBooks and digital comics by providing services like online storage, reading lists, a DRM-free bookshop directory and more.

You can follow at:

➡️ @libreture

Official site is at libreture.com

DRM-free means you get to keep books you buy, even if the bookshop closes down.

DRM books disappear forever when stores close down (for example: popularmechanics.com/technolog).
