Reflecting my experience, I am immensely grateful to have met and learned from three scholars:
Alexandra Farazouli, who works on the ethics of automated grading systems and from whom I learned about her "relational ethics" approach.

Anders Buch, who allowed me to deepen my reflections around the role of "moral imaginaries" as I knew from bell hooks in Teaching Community and Anders introduced to me the conceptualisations by Matthew J. Brown in Science and Moral Imagination.

Asia Della Rosa, who investigates whiteness from a de-colonial perspective through an intersectionality lens and demonstrated in an impressive way how to claim space for questions of power and, for example, positionality in the education research community.

I'm at #EARLI2023 and have just heard one of the most amazing speeches that I've heard in my life, Sangeeta Bagga-Gupta spoke about major issues in education research. Sangeeta managed to address de-colonial thinking and challenges in a way that does not under-state problems or simplify too much but still is getting a hand on the issue from an education research perspective making the issues tangible. Impressive!
The approach were so-called "Synvändor", if I understood it well something like major issues to engage with as a research. The five Synvänder proposed were:
1. Dynamicity, Complexity, & Multiversity
2. Undisciplinarity
3. Namability
4. Positionality & Mobility
5. Ethicality
Let's take up on these as research community!
I can totally recommend you to take up the opportunity if you have the chance to hear Sangeeta talking live!

Andreas Frey suggested: the LL hypothesis is argued by disruption of learning routinces. If digital learning tools were established, there was not much disruption going on regarding school closures. „Establishment“ of digital learning tools should be stadied as a relevant moderator in future meta analysis.
Yesterday we discussed Covid caused Learning Losses in an invited symposium. LL are found in meta analysis, which are dominated by US and UK data. We took a look on 3 german speaking countries and found no relevant impact on learning performance (when using assessment in digital learning environments).
