It’s scary how closely presidents Jared in Parable of the Talents resembles Trump and the current GOP. This was published last n 1998 when he didn’t even think of politics. At this point we have a functional society, that's producing its own energy and food, and can export goods and services while offering a much cheaper cost of living for a better life than current societies.

Next steps - develop more industry to reduce any dependency on the remaining capitalist world.

After that - we start our own space program. Part of #earthseed type spiritual fulfillment.

@maispaceha Definitely time for me to re-read of #EarthSeed. I had rememebered the daughter's filtered lens but have forgotten about the space travel funding conflict. I'm definitely shaded here by comparing #OctaviaButler 's framing of earthseed as a means to not just survive but survive better as a community vs. EA's famous fund getting busted for what is very likely shortermism fiscal irresponsibility.
