It's to help measure the earth's #albedo + perhaps solve an important #climate puzzle

From tonight. The Moon with a dim earthshine above our neighbor's roof. Look carefully and you might see a tiny dot at the Moon's 7 o'clock. That’s Mars.

Some other 'constellations' this evening over #Bochum, Germany, affected by thin clouds, though: the #earthshine of the totally saturated #Moon with some stars (magnitudes provided) - and the Moon between #Uranus (arrow; 5.8 mag.) and #Venus, the latter two heavily overexposed, of course. Had this trio in my calendar for a while, so - even at dusk and with the clouds thickening - mission accomplished. ;-)

A little after #sunset and the #NewMoon at #dusk is approaching the #western #horizon, with #Earthshine illuminating the “dark” side. There’s also #Venus there and, if you look very closely, you can also see #Saturn to the bottom right of the #planet.

When everything goes in your favour photography wise!
My husband took this shot of the #CrescentMoon over #TheNeedles #IsleofWight a few years ago. The moon looks full but that's due to #Earthshine and the perfectly clear conditions, the sun having just gone down on one of the few days of the year that this shot is achievable.
The inside of the lighthouse is illuminated which is a very rare sight these days. It was spectacular to witness. #ThrowBackThursday #Photography
