Throwing out a question: how much ease can I expect?

My dress pattern does not have finished garment measurements. It is a close fitting dress but not tight and the mock up was too large based on body measurements alone. I am wondering if I should go down a size if the ease inches are enough to compensate for the decrease in pattern size.
