New indigenous moai statue found in Easter Island volcano crater

A new Moai, one of Easter Island’s iconic monolithic statues, has been discovered in the bed of a dry lake in a volcano crater, according to the Indigenous community that administers the site on the Chilean island.

The statue is around 5 feet tall and was uncovered laying on its side.

During our time on we’ve came across various, mind challenging things.. Not unique, but we saw this skull of some animal. I believe it’s a horse’s skull. Am I correct?

Additional question came to mind and I hope someone can help me: what does it mean or represent when someone hang a cow/bull’s skull on the wall or door?

This Moai is 1.60 metres tall and was found lying down on its side looking at the sky.

It was “full-bodied with recognisable features but no clear definition”, the Ma’u Henua statement said, adding that the group was looking for finance to carry out a more extensive study on the discovery.

When I took this shot of the moai in Easter Island, I was being very "artsy", making sure you could see the other moais in the background, down at the beach below...Nothing better than me having a perfect sky so I could have turquoise water for this shot.
