Some Veil Nebula from last week. Thought it was going to be a bad night with high humidity, but these turned out great. 20 minutes each; Kingston, WA; some iPhone editing. #Unistellar #evscope2 #veilnebula #easternveil #WesternVeil

Day 1525 #DailyPhoto #SkyWatch #Astrophotography The #BatNebula aka #IC1340 is part of the #CygnusLoop connected to the #EasternVeil Nebula. It was discovered in 1864 by Truman Henry Safford, the director of the Hopkins Observatoey at Williams College. This image is 11 ten-minute exposures captured with a 571mm scope using a dual band filter that blocks the whole light spectrum except the bands for ionized hydrogen and oxygen. #StillLearning

#SkyWatch #Astrophotography The #EasternVeil Nebula aka #NGC6992 was created 10,000 to 20,000 years ago when a large star, 20 times the mass of our Sun, exploded. The remnants of this supernova have since expanded to an area 6 times the diameter and 36 times the area of the full moon. They continue to expand so that eventually, the nebula will disappear completely. This image is 5 hours (60x300 seconds) of exposure. #StillLearning
