It'll never be year of the #LinuxDesktop, but once in awhile I am reminded how amazing it is:

I hate #distrohopping, but I wanted to move from my current distro, because "reasons."

After the kids when to bed, I set out to try a few #linux distros that might fit me.

In about an hour, I installed #NixOS, #Debian 12, and #SilverBlue - each a clean install. I installed & tested my software of choice (password manger, THE game app, browsers, GIMP) all while preserving my /home.

And believe it or not, something like this did happen to me when I was starting to use Linux!

I was attempting to dual-boot #EasyPeasy (an #Ubuntu derivative for netbooks waaaaaay back) and didn't know that you could partition and install from the live installer. So instead I ran a tool that did the partitioning from Windows XP. Halfway through I lost power and bricked the HDD. From that point and on, it was Linux or nothing! #coldturkey

If #twitter wants to drive #sales, the most #obvious thing to do would be to get rid of the problem- the thing that most negatively impacts the bottom line.

The best thing about Christmas? It really is a no stress, chill day for us. We get up, eat breakfast, open presents and from there on out each person is doing their own thing. One kid is playing a game, the other kid is reading. The dogs are calming down from getting their toys. And now I can read and read and read. Nothing else needs to be done today.
