I often try to have at least a wee pot of herbs, parsley, basil, cilantro... (and a seperate one for mint because it spreads like mad!) Because you often do need a lil something fresh, and yeah the grocery stores are either too much, or you just don't have any at hand (because all the extra turned to green sludge in your fridge).
Watching a garden show and learned a whole new thing:
Vegetable gardening with perennials instead of annuals. Plant once, harvest year after year.
Edible ornamental garden is my new favorite scheme!
