the reason they were familiar with the brand was that a lot of their friends apparently had bought a Rad Bike over the past year, and every single one of them just loves it.

@ukuku the big boys will always be “late”. They won’t step into a market until it’s been proven. They will then come to dominate it, eventually pushing out the ones who created the sector.

I can remember the days when the big bike brands shunned the emerging #ebike market, saying it was a fad.

There are still many shops who will not commit to #ebikes, cus “they’re cheating”.

The bike biz is not bulging with brains!

This GMAC tandem is my first big hub motor and wow, this thing goes! I still need to test it on a steep hill fully loaded but it just delivers power where the bbs02 on my edgerunner would have me so busy managing shifting. I have 250 and 350W 36V geared hub motor #eBikes, but did not expect the amount of thrust (this is the "slow" winding in a 20in wheel so it has all of the torques.)

Hey peeps. What US states have laws specifcally addressing minimum age for riding an #EBike? Not just agencies specifing an age, but an actual, codified law?
And do those laws differentiate between pilot and passenger?

While I was only its CTO for a month before a layoff in 2022, I still dream of owning a Vässla Pedal e-bike (or preferably an unreleased successor that improved a few things).

I hope a company with better operations management buys its intellectual property because this e-bike design was beautiful, functional, and not just a motor bolted onto a bicycle.

Looking at the #cycleAnalyst and #baserunner settings and #GrinMAC with the bike on the workstand, trying to figure out the #regenBraking #eBikes thing #BikeTooter. From everything I've seen, it should be configured for brake lever + throttle to vary the amount of regen force, but I can't feel any difference while turning the cranks by hand, showing over 5mph on the CA. Should it be perceptible in the work stand, or what am I doing wrong?

Paris clears streets of electric scooters.

This was inevitable - make cheap scooters available, without enforcing safe parking requirements, and companies who really don't give a shit about their scooters co-existing safely with other street users, leads to a mess.

Which is a pity, because in comparison to cars, these scooters were an improvement.

I feel like this should be well publicized data: In 2021 Car fires have gone down to 175,000 highway fires. In the 1980's it was much hire: 456,000 yearly car fires. THESE NUMBERS ARE WILD.

Where is the NYTimes article about car fires? Next time complains about a eBike or an EV battery remember it's all click bait.

I visited UCLA and was pretty impressed by their approach. There are huge sections of campus that are clearly marked 'WALK BICYCLES and SCOOTERS' and there are massive banks for scooter/bicycle parking. They also seemed to work with several companies that rent out scooters and those are all stored in the approved parking area.

Apparently, the fines for violations can be high and include DMV citations and they give random meal vouchers for compliance.

Have the benefit of seeing lots of models of #ebikes in the bike rack on the #Baylander. They are all beasts! My class 1 #ebike weighs 36lbs with the battery and the #battery only holds 7AH. The motor is small at 250w but that is totally sufficient.
