The #DFO #ECCC #CSMI 🇨🇦🇺🇸 #LakeOntario cruise is moving along nicely on the CCGS #Limnos. The stations off Oswego, NY take a little longer because these are the deepwater stations for Lake Ontario with max depth of 244 meters (802 feet). These are stations where we will most likely catch Mysis diluviana, an important #FoodWebs #zooplankton. We should be done the US waters stations by end of today and move to the north shore to complete the survey. #CooperativeScience #Plankton #Chemistry

The CCGS #Limnos is busy and full! There are 14 scientists on board from #DFO and #ECCC plus the Coast Guard crew. It is also *HOT 🔥 with the air temperatures over the #GreatLakes ridiculously near 30C in April! The engineer rigged up an extra air duct to keep our incubators we use for algal primary productivity cool, because we need to have the water at lake temperature, which is 4-7C. Limnos is currently sampling the #LakeOntario deeper stations off Rochester, NY. #CSMI 🇨🇦🇺🇸 #Science

Our primary #DFOscience research vessel for the #GreatLakesLaboratory, the CCGS Limnos, left this afternoon for an 8 day research and monitoring mission to support the #GreatLakes 🇨🇦🇺🇸 Cooperative Science and Monitoring Initiative #CSMI field year for #LakeOntario. This spring cruise is in collaboration with Environment and Climate Change Canada #ECCC, and we are collecting chemical, biological, and contaminants samples for many partners, including #EPA, #Cornell, and others. #plankton

Got my first probably #eccc related COVID contact alert - congratulations to whoever was there from New Jersey, hope you wore a mask.

My last 12 hours in Seattle were busy enough that I didn't get a chance to post much. Now that I'm back on Eastern Time and somewhat-caught-up on sleep, here's one final cosplay post from the trip: my Starfleet formal attire for the Emerald Under the C(CC) Prom After Party. #ECCC

Random fun #ECCC anecdote. My wife and I stopped by Terry Dodson's booth to look at originals and chat. Years ago, we bought the original art of his She-Ra variant cover of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe #1.

As we talked about it, he said that particular variant skyrocketed in popularity in the last few years, and now goes for a lot of money. When I looked it up, apparently it runs $800-$1000 a pop (with some outliers, obv).

Glad we pounced on the original when we did!

#ECCC was fun and definitely easier going on a Sunday. We got autographs of the celebrities we wanted (my favs were James Marsters and Lori Petty), stopped by an artist's booth and bought a new picture, and then headed home. We don't do the panels and don't have the patience for the massive crowds around a lot of other collectible items. All in all, a very good Sunday. Exhausted now.

Getting ready to head out to #ECCC. Since it seems cell service goes out at the Seattle Convention Center, hubby and I are going to be equipped with walkie-talkies if we need to separate for autographs. It probably won't happen but it's better to be safe than sorry!

Why, oh why, did I make plans for the same day I drove home from #ECCC? And why were the people in the hotel room next to me so damn loud last night? I am so fucking tired.

Spent most of the evening chatting with my husband about things political and exactly how we're goiing to tackle our day tomorrow at #ECCC. Now to get some sleep before we do said tackling.
