I worry that the warm and fuzzy feel of the Fediverse is creating an emotional filter bubble of sorts. The main complaint I've heard about why people don't sign up here is a perceived lack of humor. And I must confess that I do go elsewhere for that dopamine hit of reliably weird surrealism. We can and should do better on that front.

Sure, we're all recovering from the id-driven egofest of the birdsite, the windmill tilts to superficiality and disinfo and distortion, the main character of the week (akin to Eric Roberts showing up to chew up the scenery in a 1980s Cannon action movie, except in words rather than image). And nobody likes hate other than its pathetic practitioners.

But surely there's more we can do to encourage misfits, oddballs, and eccentrics. I feel at times that some of you are patricians wearing Brooks Brothers suits. It's okay to show up to a party without a tie. You can even loosen the top button!
