(Not an Elon Musk post.) There have been two reports in the past year of patients in Vermont with large liver cysts due to Echinococcus granulosus. This infection is acquired from contact with feces of dogs, wolves, coyotes, or foxes containing tapeworm eggs. Humans that ingest these eggs may develop liver or lung cysts. The causative #Echinococcus strain appears to be a more virulent European import that has become established in native fox populations in the Eastern US.
