"Any #criticism of #society is swallowed up in order to turn it into a market item alongside credit cards, panty liners and cell phones. Politics and the media stir up the ready-made soup of the #zeitgeist, in which the latest word chunks have to swim for the sake of saleability, even if they have no more substance than a Knorr or Maggi 'chicken soup' contains real chicken. It seems that the plastic term 'sustainability' was invented for this fast food discourse. This new word is ideally suited to amalgamate hard-headed market interests with #ecological responsibility whispers in order to feed the product, which is edible for everyone, into the endless operation of morsel journalism.
With the help of 'sustainability', one can effortlessly operate as an ecosocial figure of light without putting the prevailing social order and its business #economization of the world up for disposal. In the meantime, every child knows that #business rationality permanently externalizes costs: to society as a whole, to the future and also to nature. It has proved practically impossible to internalize these externalized social and ecological costs back into the economic balance sheet through political regulation." --- #RobertKurz
