#Physics provides lots of analogies to help us get a grip on social phenomena that are in reality much more complicated.

Analogies only go so far, pretty soon the intrinsic nature of things takes over and determines what really happens. But when you don't have much else non-subjective to work with, its at least something.

As per Archimedes dictum, "give me a place to stand outside Earth and I can move it". He probably meant it literally, in the context of physics of levers that he pioneered. But its an analogy that applies to our predicament: moving the mountains of cumulating social problems requires stepping outside to help find some points of leverage.

Some people take this line of thinking literally. There is, e.g., even an academic field named #econophysics that tries to use methods from physics to analyse economic phenomena. It has had very limited success, but considering the dismal state of #economics the bar is quite low
