Aiming this year to rationalise my energy use when cooking.
If something is being boiled then a steamer basket is going on top. If something can be microwaved without compromising it then I will. Today I managed an entire dinner (vegan joint, cauliflower, potatoes, onions and vegan lardons) in a single tray in the oven all for the same length of time.
The bonus of it is leaving the oven door open while it's cooling to warm up the kitchen ☺️
Buy two stackable storage boxes. Make sure there's a reasonable gap between the bases when stacked. Drill as many holes as you can in the base of one (same diameter as heating pellets). Pour 5-10cm pellets into perforated top box.
Once a day shake vigorously. Soiled pellets disintegrate and fall through holes into bottom box. Poop comes to the top for removal with a scoop. Empty bottom box every other day, unless it's hot in which case daily to avoid smell.

#MoneySavingTip for cat households - but also #ecotips : move your #cats to using heating pellets as litter. Make yourself a filtering #litterbox to cut down on waste. Heating pellets are a fraction of the cost of cat litter and can be composted at the end. (1/2)
