She shares a project that pushes students to challenge the definition of ‘publish’ to explore ‘Publication as’… book, object, exhibition, event, dialogue, reflexivity and gamification. She will also share a collaborative effort to capture the resulting research around experimental publishing.

Guy Villa Jr holds a BFA from the University of Illinois Chicago, with a major in Graphic Design and additional concentration in Photography. In his role as an Assistant Professor and the Coordinator of Graphic Design at Columbia College Chicago, Guy teaches graphic design and typography, and serves as Advisor to the Latino Alliance.

Sharon Oiga will be a co-emcee at TypeCon2023: Portland on Thursday, August 17th for our #EdForum.
As a Professor and the Chair of Graphic Design at UIC, she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in design, typography, and thesis. In the design community, she serves on the board of the SOTA and the Chicago Design Archive, and on the advisory council of Diversify by Design, as well as recently serving as a juror for the Communication Arts Design Competition.
Erica Holeman is an assistant professor in Communication Design at the University of North Texas. As an educator, she views the classroom as an opportunity to design better experiences and build community.
