I've probably said this before, but footnotes in copyediting-related books make me happy. Especially since those footnotes are often humorous.

We copyeditors are big fans of nuance, and it shows. 🤓

(I have "Dreyer's English," "The Copyeditor's Handbook," "The Chicago Guide to Copyediting Fiction," and two other books out as I compare opinions on certain conventions. It's fun!)

The other day, I posted a poll about styling the noun "worldbuilding." My thanks to the 25 people who participated. Here are the results:

60% of responders, like me, prefer "worldbuilding."

24% prefer "world-building."

16% prefer "world building."

I suspect "worldbuilding" is most common among the general #WritingCommunity, RPG game masters, and other storytellers. Wikipedia uses this variation, too. (1/2)
