Took myself on the #TramToNewhaven yesterday on the first weekend of the new line extension being open to passengers. Was great to see the tram pretty packed in all directions! #EdinburghTrams #DingDing

Yesterday’s afternoon’s tram ride from Newhaven, along the new extension was quite an experience.

From a passenger getting on the tram pushing their Asda trolley of shopping, to standing room only within one stop!

Being told by the conductor that our tram was busier than a Scottish Rugby day one, and the three attempts our tram had to have to get up the hill at North St Andrew Street.

I’m logging it as one of those memorable experiences you only have once.

Slow hand-clap to the car driver who decided that it was perfect okay to park their vehicle on the tram tracks at Balfour Street. I’ve been told you caused quite a pile-up of #EdinburghTrams.

Bon voyage to everyone who will be travelling on the new extension line from St Andrew Square in Edinburgh, to Leith and Newhaven from noon today.

Great to see the Victorian underground cable-winding mechanism from Edinburgh’s original tram network up close this morning.

The permanent display at Iona Street, close to where they were originally found, is a beautiful new feature for Leith.

Here’s hoping the youngsters respect this piece of history. But I suspect Scemo and his fellow spray-painters will be out vanity-tagging and bringing the place down, as per usual.

The trams have been running decently frequently along the new extension towards the Ocean Terminal. The smooth roll, the subtle and relaxing sound of the tram bell, loving it all.

The Drivers are training, and if I see them, I'm making sure to wave.

Now if they could only get a speed camera on Ocean Drive, that would further warm my heart.
