Today’s main Christmas movie was the Albert Finney Scrooge, with the scene stealing Edith Evans playing Edith Evans, and Alec Guinness as Marley. I’ll freely admit this musical version isn’t my favourite version of the story, and that it isn’t Ronald Neame’s best, especially compared to the wonderful Brief Encounter, The Man That Never Was, or even The Poseidon Adventure that followed.
