#GordonLightfoot was quite the storyteller, wasn’t he?

“If you could read my mind” and (of course) “The wreck of the #EdmundFitzgerald” are great examples, and both are special to me.

Gordon’s a staple of #NorthernMichigan radio, and his songs remind me of staying at my grandparent’s summer cabin as a kid.

Thanks for the memories, old friend. RIP.

Attended an interesting talk on the Edmund Fitzgerald by author Ric Mixter.
He concluded that a combination of water coming in faster than the pumps could handle, the ship noticeably listing, a large wave, and maybe a breach in the hull. He surmises she likely entered a trough, heaved down with water-logged taconite in her hold, shearing the stern off, which flipped over, quickly sinking her. But, he said no one will ever know for sure. #shipwreck #greatlakes #EdmundFitzgerald

I grew up in the thumb of Michigan, Michiganders have a special relationship with The Lakes. They are our life's blood, beloved, and dangerous. Most people have "A Story." Of how a lake either killed, or nearly killed a loved one or friend.

And so it is with me. My Silly Uncle Don (yes, we called him that) had a sail boat. A lovely little 30' blue water boat named Sea Wolf (thread)
