Top-line: on the whole, students who attend charters in the US have increased academic performance. My question is about methods and how they use "days of learning" to simplify the effect size.

📲 Our latest NBER working paper finds that a low-tech intervention incorporating 1-to-1 phone call tutoring and text messages tailored to student levels has large, positive effects on learning.

Across five low-income countries and 16,000+ households, the intervention increases learning by an average of 0.33 standard deviations. At an estimated $12 per student, the intervention is one of the most cost-effective in #edtech.
