In de jaren 80 en begin jaren 90 heeft sir Paul wat problemen om aansluiting te vinden bij de nieuwe lichting artiesten, met matig ontvangen soloalbums, maar na verloop van jaren worden deze geprezen voor het experiment dat hij niet schuwt.
De jaren 2000 zijn vooral een periode van lange wereldtournees en persoonlijke problemen.
In 2012 treed hij op als frontman van Nirvana, en in 2015 werkt hij samen met #KanyeWest.
Met #EgyptStation heeft hij in 2018 nog eens een nummer 1 album.

Anyways, I think Egypt Station has quickly become my favourite 21st century McCartney record. It’s between Dominoes and Despite Repeated Warnings today for favourite song.

On one listen, that’s a pretty excellent McCartney album. Well done everyone, especially producer Greg Kurstin who gives the whole thing a great sound without it being *his* sound (I’m looking at you, Godrich). And I’ve just noticed there’s a beetle on the cover. Look!
