A ray of hope: The logging company PT.SPS needs to submit an environmental impact assessment (#EIA) by September 4 to get the final green light. If the EIA is rejected, the logging project will be cancelled or put on hold. The decision is now in the hands of the Ministry of Forestry.

Catalyst is an all-remote worker #Cooperative focused on open #DataEngineering, analysis, and open source software. We mostly work with public US data related to the energy system, pulling together information from #FERC, #EIA, #EPA, and other agencies and trying to turn it into analysis-ready database tables so advocates, policymakers, & researchers can focus on their own novel work instead.

EIA is going to give NEMS a big overhaul in the coming year, and take a year off from publishing the AEO to do it. And open source the whole thing!

Does anybody on #EnergyMastodon know what happens to the #PuertoRico #eia860 data? There are planned/operating/retired generators in the EIA-860M data, and separate Puerto Rico tabs in the #eia923 spreadsheets since ~2018, but there's zippo in the normal annual EIA-860 -- not even the generators, let alone the plants and utilities and environmental associations. Seems weird. I've emailed #EIA. #EnergyData #EnergyTransition #EIA #OpenData.

I have worked in the #EIA space for a 3 decades. The lying, prevarication, misinformation, the collusion between proponents and regulators is not surprising and often very obvious. These companies lie as a matter of course. They are liars and are untrustworthy. They lack the integrity and credibility to act in a responsible manner.
