What a tough nut to crack for the goddess Athena when deciding which of the athletes to award the competition victory to. Clearly pensive, she raises her hand with a stylus to her face in a gesture of contemplation on this Panathenaic amphora by the Triptolemos Painter in the Munich Museum.
