Was experimenting around for a bit about #eInk for #Railway #Ticket #Aztec codes.

My aim was to display may daily #InterRail Aztec code on a small e-ink display at a lanyard rather than checking it out on my phone each and every ticket check.

My first attempt was a #badger2040 W as display device, but I figured out it does not have a sufficiently high resolution. Whereas the badger has a 296 x 128 px display, an InterRail Aztec requires at least 256 px to scan.

Reading up on dual booting Android and Phosh. Let's see how far I get into booting postmarketOS on Hisense A9. First to port TWRP so I can root access from recovery, then partitioning, maybe create a script to auto setup this for anyone to enjoy.

I’d also revisit that #eink idea - either buy a frontlit display or make peace with using a desk lamp (and get a nice one!). It’d be great to keep the power needs low. Fair play to Other Ben on this though, it’s a stunner.

We managed to crack Hisense A9 bootloader lock, and root over at XDA brainpower. Good old times of compiling AOSP and porting CyanogenMod (nowadays LineageOS).

Rumor has it that Hisense is downsizing the team behind these... it's a shame! Now debloated from Chinese specific apps and running Google Services.

We could also now port @postmarketOS 🤩. Would be interesting to see Gnome Mobile on eink!

Every so often I've thought about how cool it would be to have a colour #eInk display showing a cycle of art works. But the e-Ink brand displays were always more components than devices, and I wouldn't want to start learning electronics with an expensive eInk display!

But now it looks like I just need to wait for Sharp to release them! 😍

Someone has started using my weather icon font again, created some years ago. They are hand drawn and meant for use on black and white e-paper screens. I have no idea as to what they are used for now.

Spannend: Andere eReader mit Notizfunktion wie bspw. Boox schickt die Daten nach China, für SuperNote lässt sich das nicht wirklich nachvollziehen.

Mein Scribe kennt kein Netzwerk, nerven tut diese Art der Praxis hingegen sehr.
