🦷Llevaba mucho tiempo queriendo hincarle el diente a Brandon Sanderson y, después de mucho preguntar, casi todos me dijeron que empezara por «Elantris», su «ópera prima». Así que eso es lo que hice.

🥳Como estaba disponible la edición del X ANIVERSARIO con notas del autor, me decanté por esta versión y, la verdad sea dicha, creo que ha sido todo un acierto, porque, además de la novela, hay notas muy jugosas sobre su creación e incluso capítulos y personajes eliminados, lo cual, como escritor, me parece sumamente enriquecedor.

🥰En cuanto a la novela en sí, decir que me ha gustado mucho. Si bien tiene momentos tediosos y, en ocasiones, la trama se desenvuelve con bastante lentitud, creo que se sirve de este ritmo como caldo de cultivo para la correcta interiorización de los personajes y exponer su complejidad.

👁La trama se desarrolla desde tres puntos de vista diferenciados: el del desterrado Raoden, el de la princesa Sarene y el del sacerdote Hrathen. Todos ellos cargados de matices y no, sencillamente, como caracteres buenos o malos. Hay un trabajo brutal detrás de ellos. Así como también detrás de la ambientación y la historia sobre la que se sustenta este universo particular. La novela posee un worldbuilding excepcional y digno de admiración.

🧶El modo en que la trama se va entretejiendo es lento pero impresionante, llegando a un punto en que todo se precipita hacia una conclusión espectacular. Las últimas 150-200 páginas son de un ritmo brillante, con giros de lo más inesperados y una tensión que te mantiene en vilo. El autor, sin duda, ha sabido usar sus herramientas con bastante acierto.

🔮Dicho esto, creo que no será la última novela que lea de Sanderson. Me apetece leer su saga de «Nacidos de la bruma» y conocer el Cosmere. De momento, «Elantris» me ha parecido un buen punto de partida y no puedo hacer más que recomendarla.

I wonder how many other folks out there have both worked in/with data centers and enjoyed the book #elantris... so that "kolo" (Galladon asking "understand?" or "you with me?") and the term "colo" (colocation center) are forever linked.

One thing that I like about the Wired "exposé" on #BrandonSanderson is how it breaks the myth that authors have to be weird/suffering in any way. It's almost refreshing to see him described as "boring" (even though he's not).

#Elantris - Brandon Sanderson.

Warum hat das noch keiner verfilmt eigentlich?

Ich würde ne Trilogie nehmen und dann ein paar SpinOff-Serien, z.B. über die Mönche. Oder als "Sequel" die Stadt Elantris zu ihrer Blütezeit.

Aber gerne erstmal die Geschichte des Romans. Das wäre ein schöner Anfang.

@alexjames I also read #Warbreaker after finding out that two characters from #StormlightArchive first appear in that novel, with different names. My boyfriend bought me a paperback copy of #Elantris, but I haven't started it yet. I'm currently listening to the third novel of #Skyward, and after that I will have one more novella to listen to before I fiiinally start #Mistborn. I drive a lot so mostly I've been listening. How are you liking it so far?

@PixelBandits @matthewclan reminds me of Brandon Sanderson and #Elantris. It's a REALLY good story and the first he published as part of the #Cosmere but even he says not to start with it as it's not his best writing. I read it and enjoyed it myself, but I did read the original #Mistborn trilogy first.

@junglegeorge24 Most of what you’re into! I’ve only seen Next Gen, but love Picard. I just finished a first read through of #StormlightArchive, #Mistborn, #Elantris, and #Warbreaker, and am going to read #BandsOfMourning before I dive into #LostMetal.

I haven’t read any of #Discworld, but it’s on my list! Any recommendations for where to start?
