Spent the day Friday #laserscanning #eroding slopes along the #ElbowRiver in #Calgary for a project being done by visiting MSc student Luc van Dijk from Utrecht University.

«Southern Alberta is a dry place to live. Calgary's water supply comes from the Elbow River, which is fed primarily from mountain run off. Global warming reduces snowpack, melts glaciers in the Rockies and dries out wetlands. If we don't look after our critical watersheds it will only be a few short decades before our city experiences a water crisis. Short term thinking is a recipe for disaster.»
