Me, my dad, and 2 of my cousins at #ElCholo in Dec 2014, his last trip to #LosAngeles. Meant a lot to me to help make it possible and to go with him on that trip. He died less than 2 years later. 💔
My dad looks quite pensive and almost sad in this photo. It was a very emotional--but gratifying--trip for both us. We visited lots of places from his childhood and younger days.
This was a nice read. #ElCholo was one of my dad's favorite restaurants in #LosAngeles -- he grew up not far from there.

I suppose that the upside to this mention from 3000 miles away, is that #ElCholo's rep as an OG does have some power.
That said, given its position as an LA institution, it's kind of a shame that the #LATimes hasn't seen fit to mention the eatery's #100thAnniversary this year.
