playing without messages on #EldenRing means the 1000s of #SecretPassageHere messages at the edge of death drops no longer exist, which is a good thing.

i've never benefited from a message or bloodstain #GameplayWise, at most they've been a sense of camaraderie among #TheDead

the real question here is: why offline?

It's strange, playing offline in #EldenRing / #DarkSouls feel much more lonely, even though I'm 99% alone anyhow.

Of course, it's due to the absence of messages and bloodstains.
Those make the games a lot more light hearted, and make me feel safer. Without them, the atmosphere is more opressive and scarier.

Interestingly, I only feel that way because I've been conditioned to expect the messages everywhere, whereas other games don't have them in the first place, so there's nothing to miss.

I finally got gud and managed to tackle the Fringefolk Hero's Grave (Ulcerated Tree Spirit), a Deathbird, that damn Tree Sentinel, the Grafted Scion from the beginning, and the Impaler Catacombs (Watchdog).

Sad to say that I'm now getting owned by Burger King mages and FP zombies at the Academy. One hell of a college orientation, Rennala, damn.
