What a massive waste of resources. Given that 'senate' literally means 'assembly of elders' from Latin, maybe it's time we reevaluate the way we choose our senators. Advocating for a tenure for life to ensure wisdom and stability in our legislative branch. 🏛️📜

We need more like the one in this week's Gen Dread by Isabelle Drury: "Please stop saying my generation will save the world"

What a horrific burden to put on . But the options aren't to either trauma-dump about the or ignore/deny reality. As Drury writes, younger often desperately want/need from older generations - "Where is the guidance from our ?" she writes.

Our just haven’t been heard, and that’s a big problem. The project has undergone several stages of permitting and regulatory processes before it can begin full-scale mining operations. These processes are essential to addressing environmental and societal impacts and complying with local regulations.

Another weird yet endearing family thing: my stepmom will show up with random gifts she felt your house needed…sometimes v useful…other times very wtf. Once she got us a 3 foot statue of a manatee because it might look good in our bathroom 😂 Anyone else have family do things like this?

Today, I published an essay on two recent books: Fifty Years of in America, by Glen W. Olson and Terry Lee Brussel-Rogers, and Polyamorous Elders, by therapist and nurse Kathy Labriola.

I liked both these books, though I think is the one we all need to read. It is FASCINATING to read dozens of case histories of polyamorous people entering and navigating their last chapters.

Older people have the right to live safely, without fear of abuse or neglect. Elder abuse is the mistreatment or exploitation of an older person.

It is very distressing for older people, their family and other loved ones. Most commonly, it is committed by someone that the older person knows and trusts, most often within family relationships.

Elder abuse can take many forms, including physical, psychological, financial, social or sexual abuse. Neglect is also a form of abuse.
