A few years ago I was semi-active in the #election map community on Twitter. Most of those folks (#ElectionTwitter) build them out in #QGIS and occasionally you see map #dataviz with #rstats, but I like to tackle these tasks with #python, #pandas, and #matplotlib. So I wrote up a brief tutorial¹ using 2018 New Mexico results from OpenElections.² #projects

#ElectionTwitter was not created by an academic, political operative, or cartographer. It was created by a pollworker/stay at home mom. Don’t ever think that you aren’t good enough to start something that matters.
