Learning about the #ElectoralSystem for #LocalElections in #Luxembourg and finding it fascinating.

Municipalities under 3k inhabitants: majority system w just individual candidates.

Municipalities over 3k: plurality system. Number of councillors (X) determined by number of inhabitants. Every list (political party) has X candidates and every voter has X votes - which they are free to give to a list or distribute among candidates on different lists, max TWO votes to a single candidate.

@doctorcdf having had various experiences of the UK #electoralsystem, everyone agrees that it's robust, fair & decisions at counts are taken in interests of the public by non-partisan #localgov officials. Why is the actual counting of votes in US such an issue? In UK we don't declare any result until every ballot properly recorded & discrepancies sorted out. I know this pre-dates Trump and even the 2000 debacle. Nixon had legitimate concerns re Illinois (well, Chicago particularly) in 1960.
