In road vehicles, hydrogen is said to be around 30% efficient (assuming the hydrogen is produced by electrolysis from water, for every 100kWh input to the electrolyser, 30kWh comes out of the fuel cell at the other end). That compares to about 85% efficiency for batteries (for every 100kWh put into charging the battery, 85kWh is available to run a motor). Liquefying the hydrogen would take more energy, reducing overall efficiency, but it's necessary to achieve realistic flight range.

But how many electric/battery powered aircraft have so far been certified by the FAA?

Zero.

“We remain on course to have the world’s first Part 23 Amendment 64 FAA certified fixed wing aircraft.”

Spent an hour or so cutting foam to help give reinforce the upper and lower parts of the fuselage sides. Still in progress, will finish up cutting blocks tomorrow, and I’ll cut angles and fully shape them later this week.
