So having thought long and hard about it, I did a repair on my electric blanket.

FIrst off I tried to extend the heating element wiring out of the blanket so I could bodge something to it later. TWo appentps and I kept snapping the fine hair like heating wires due to lack of cable strain relief.

Secondly I couldn't find a suitable fused inline connector for 240Vac.

In the end I saved the blanket connector from the bin and dug out all the rubber and the broken fuse from inside and pulled the connector pins out.
I then soldered on a replacement fuse to one pin, and re soldered the heating wire to the fuse and the other pin.
As my Sugru had all gone off I filled the whole connector with hot glue and refitted it to the blanket.

Tested it and it seems to be working fine again.

This buys me time to consider a future repair if needed or a replacement electric blanket.

In the meantime, don't use unattended, or when in bed!

OK, so nothing to lose, I went digging.
I found the tail end of the heating wire, opened up the moulded rubber looking for a thermal fuse or something. Nothing, just the core and screen crimped together.

I then broke into the plug end of the blanket, found the hidden screws, and found the wires buried in a plastic and rubber socket.
I cut into it and found the other end of the heating wire. The wire is sound and continuous, yay!

But buried in the rubber is a glass fuse that had blown. Being buried in rubber it also shattered as I tried to get it out.

Having a cup of tea before I carefully vacuum the bed of glass splinters!

I think this repair stops here. If it was low voltage, I'd do a repair with a replacement fuse, external fuse holder, and connector. But it is mains 240 Volts!
Not going to risk that if I need to lie on it!
Stupid non servicable product. They could have designed it with the fuse in the control unit behind tamperproof screws.

Sue's side works fine, my side has stopped working. The control seems to be stuck on the '5 minute ready for bed' setting but no longer gets hot. It won't change to any other setting either.

Anyone tried fault finding or repairing one please?
