Does someone have a suggestion for a way to read out the power consumption of an entire PC?
Just asking the PSU isn't possible 😮💨
I have a german type f power outlet and i want to track the system power consumption on the system (linux) itself.
Ideas?

HEY INTERNET!
Anybody know the proper way to test a high-voltage self-discharging capacitor?
(Don't say Mr. Carlson's, it's a fine device but it doesn't test caps like this. Will it show a leak? Yes. That's by design.)
With a regular meter it tests in range and it's correctly self-discharging but all that's at meter voltage which is not exactly this thing's operating range.
(It's from a cabinet-fit microwave. Everything works except the magnetron doesn't actually do anything. I hear the relay click but no zappy. So it's _probably_ that. But I'm not willing to replace that part because _that_ involves breaking radiation containment shields and _I_ don't have a microwave detector.)
#electronics people: what is your opinion on SMD pin headers like these? I'm thinking of making a board that requires zero manual assembly and JLCPCB has them in their parts catalog. I worry a bit about the mechanical robustness of them. I'd hate to have someone rip theirs off the board when removing a wavetable daugherboard.

I want to write a program that attempts to find the best combination of resistors (E48, E24 or whatever) to fit a given set of ratios. Is there any sort of magic trick to this, or would I just brute-force it and iterate all the possible ones and keep track of the one with the least error to it? #electronics
Anyone interested in following how I stumble through my first linear PA build from zero to QSO entirely without instructions and pre made PCBs, just armed with some test equipment? then stay tuned ;-D

The recommend land patter by Würth ( left) looks like its for wave soldering... On the right is the footprint as specified by NXP for the same package. The NXP version allows me to route the data lines underneath the package. The Würth Version doesn't. #electronics #pcb
When you have a big pile of TC4069UB hex inverters, a lot of problems look like they can be solved by them.
In this case I needed a 1kHz square wave.
Would anyone be interested in seeing a small #hardware project that demos #electronic #control systems?

A challenge for #electronics #hobby buffs:
If you look at the the #Ada program (with translations to other languages) in my pinned toots, you will see that the #entanglement of #quantum stuff is actually just the correlations of phase-locked sinusoids randomly sampled.
So here is your challenge: make QUBIT circuits out of op-amps or 555 timers.
(I plan maybe to get to this myself, but I only dabble a bit, and my electronics bench is covered with unrelated garbage since early in the pandemic.)

VICTORY! The $1,154 check is heading our way after we went toe to toe with the warranty company. They were gung ho on a mid-grade replacement model (X90L) while we kept saying "just send us a check already!"
After hitting a wall yesterday, a supervisor finally told us that we could tell the original store where we bought the TV to "reject the offer," so we called their corporate office in LA and spoke with someone who was super helpful.
