Wow SBS sent an email saying my 2014 model TV will no longer access SBS directly. Infuriating that we are pressured to discard & replace electronic goods. 😡 “You're receiving this email from us, as our records indicate that you are currently using a 2014 LG television to access SBS On Demand.

SBS is in the process of transitioning to a new technology provider for our video streams and unfortunately, your LG 2014 TV is not compatible with this new service.

This means, that on 1 March 2023, the SBS On Demand app will no longer be accessible from your LG TV.”

We need harmonisation and legal frameworks for :
- interoperability
- minimum maintenance and update windows, if not, we may welcome the next bulk of #electronicwaste
- include open access methods to power availability and cost
- power/price negotiation API
- open API specs for minimal data exchange with APPS or cloud based platforms.
