The first sanction applies to #contemptofparliament. The normal punishment for a non or former member is to be required to appear at the "bar of the house" (which, sad to say, is not a #hostelry !) to purge one contempt. In the effect of a failure to do so the individual in question will be arrested by the #serjeantatarms and detained in a cell under the #elisabethtower until they agree to purge their contempt. The sanction of detention has not needed to be used since the nineteenth century!

The second - which has also been mooted - would be to charge him with contempt of parliament. If charged he would be required to present himself at the bar of the house ( not one of the many bars serving alcoholic beverages within the #palaceofwestminster ) and apologise humbly. If he refused to comply he would be arrested by the #serjeantatarms and confined within a cell below the #elisabethtower (which houses Big Ben) until he agreed to.
