Finished my first week as an apprentice #basketmaker. I am so very relieved to have enjoyed these first days.

My #coworkers are kind, funny, compassionate, and so much more. After evolving in the #classist and #elitist setting of #academia for most of my teenage and young adult life, I'm finally back to where I belong.

I read this article by #Matthew_Desmond of #princetonuniversity and want to recommend it.

Basic thesis: slavery still informs #American capitalism and thus #world capitalism via #globalisation. Gives it a '#zero_sum' calculation that you must be either master or slave. Makes corporations #elitist, #paranoid, power-obsessed, #monopolistic, inhumane, oppressive, psychotic, irrational, inefficient, #unsustainable.
