A white Republican City Councilman in Elkhart posted baseless claims that the city’s first Black mayor was engaged in extreme, open, and flagrant corruption on Facebook and now people are posting pictures of his house on Nextdoor.

#Elkhart City Council is looking at an ordinance that is basically a cut and paste of the anti-#homeless ordinance recently passed unanimously by #Goshen.

The ordinance would prohibit camping on any public land, including sleeping in cars or RVs, and establishes procedures to confiscate property and impose fines. The fines are administered by code enforcement so it is not technically criminalization, and defenders are very touchy about that, but has the same basic effect.
