@rml #MastodonEl
@mousebot do you take ridiculously extensive feature requests
because if so ^ and also respecting safe ANSI escapes
It's liberation software, contribute it myself you say...........
EDIT: Okay, I confused my feature desire for #elpher with #mastodonEl , but still ;p
Don't trust me, I really don't yet know what I'm doing!
I need to get a bit more info about using a socks proxy in emacs, but I already have stretched the sunday to nearly monday's breakfast. Why do the best ideas always show up so late? Or early again? Eeeeeeh...

Umm, Not UNIX based, and I'm having a little trouble recollecting, (maybe at @yarmo 's "Delightful" site?), But I do know there's a #Fediverse CLI client, and I think it uses the Mastodon API - I just can't think of it right now. #SMJ over at #SDF ported #commode to #NetBSD so I see no reason why you couldn't do this, and think it's a great idea!
#Lain put #Gopher support in #Pleroma, but set the default to a funky port - it works with #Lynx & #Elpher too.

#EmacsTip: Heard the names #Gopher and/or #Gemini? #Gopher is the predecessor of #HTML, small, light-weight. #Gemini is a new protocol, an alternative of bloated #HTML, clean and tidy.
Since these protocols are simple and light-weight, these are ideal for browsing in #Emacs. Try #Elpher, a #Gopher and #Gemini client for #Emacs

I just noticed that #mastodonel opens #gemini links with #elpher. \o/
And it works with #gopher links too.

#emacs browsing #gopher #gopherspace using #elpher
1. open emacs
M-x package-install <RET>
elpher <RET>
M-x elpher-go <RET>
gopher.club <RET>
It works great. Navigate the cursor to within the item description for items you wish to follow. There is also elpher-back.
A slight mystery: I believe that itemtype 1 and itemtype 7 are construed to be the same, but in elpher use 1 instead of 7 and just write in your QUERY_STRING yourself.

I had no problems at all, so I decided to try #elpher, and it looks amazing, opens #gopher links easily, however I can't connect to #gemini sites.
All I get is
"---- ERROR -----
When attempting to retrieve gemini://gemini.circumlunar.space/:
Connection time-out."
Any chance anyone had same problem (and solved)? Can't google anything and have no idea how to troubleshoot this issue.
