Now watching #documentary #IsThatBlackEnoughForYou by #ElvisMitchell. On Netflix. I dragged my feet to see it. I had Prof #DonaldBogle in college. I thought I knew everything about history of #BlackFilm (hahaha.). Doc is great. Many perspectives I never even considered + lots of films I need to hunt down to watch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ElWKkC0h42w

A master class in American movie history. #ElvisMitchell is very careful to frame Black cinema as a part of all cinema, noting how it was influenced by movements that often started in white culture like the Western and the horror film, and, interestingly, noting how often the visions of Black creatives would then shape their non-POC counterparts.
