This is the last set of photos from my #Portland photowalk last week. I was shooting B&W JPEGs. The first three are straight out of camera. I boosted the contrast on the fourth.
The forward tilt on the second photo is kind of unnerving, like they're all about to tumble down the stairs. It freaks out the anal retentive in me, but the photographer in me likes the added tension.

Here are more photos from my #Portland photowalk last Sunday. I was shooting B&W JPEGs. These are straight out of camera.
The third and fourth photos are of the mural painted on the western wall of the Sovereign Hotel. The hotel was built in 1923. The mural was painted in 1989 by Richard Haas. It depicts members of the Lewis and Clark expedition.

Here are the first four photos from my #Portland photowalk on Sunday.
I wanted to simplify my photography by only shooting B&W JPEGs, so I set my digital camera to monochrome. Since I like high-contrast B&W, I also cranked up the contrast.
These are straight out of camera.

A burrowing owl stands on a log in his cage. He is staring right at you. Penetrating your soul. You can feel his psyche burrowing into your brain. You become light-headed and briefly black out. When you regain consciousness, you see that everything is OK. You're in your cage, standing on a log. Outside the cage, you see a human with a camera looking in at you.
